He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Engels and Margaret Engels (Funfsinn); his wife Vicki Engels; and his sister Diane Ray. He is survived by: his children, Eric Engels (Sara) of Tonica, Christian Engels (JoAnna) of Mendota, Michael Campeggio (Candice) of Dunlap, IL, Robin Dean (Michael) of Ottawa, Beth Bodmer (Erik) of West Brooklyn, Candy Campeggio of Mendota and Carter Engels (Sidney) of Mendota; his grandchildren, Ava, Eve Engels, Alyssa, Bailey, Leo Engels, Michael, Callie, Cami Campeggio, Meghan, Joseph, Aren Dean, Madelyn, Natalie Bodmer, Teghan, Marly, Lex Tillman, Finley, Everly Bonnell and Ryker Engels; his great grandchild Levi Rouse; his siblings, Mary Lou Jahr (Arne) of Cable, WI, Bill Engels (Cindy) of Gilbert, AZ, Leann Urbanski (Ron) of Granville, Robert Engels of Mendota and Donna Engels of Ladd; and his siblings-in-law, Michael Ray of Sumter, SC and Debi Drypolcher of Chicago. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home (800 Monroe St, Mendota, IL 61342). A prayer was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
