He was predeceased by: his father Reverend Gordon Shafer; and his siblings, Diane VanDewalle and Michael Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Debbie (Chalcraft); his mother Marie Shafer (Scott); his stepchildren, Valerie Savage (David), Shannon Kates (Brandon) and Nathan Garner; his daughter Alexandra Albanese (Drake); and his grandchildren, Gabriel Garner, Jaxson and Riley Kates. He is also survived by family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home-Springfield (900 S 6th St, Springfield, IL 62703).
Memorial contributions to the American Lung Association can be made in lieu of flowers.
