He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mitchell and Julia Mitchell (Harrelson); and his siblings, Nadine Duay, Vada Willis, Bob, Bill and Tom Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Mitchell of McLeansboro, IL; his children, William "Bill" (Kathy Mitchell) of McLeansboro, IL, Beverly (Mike Husman) of Eldersberg, MD and Vickie (John Lindstrom) of Tempe, AZ; his grandchildren, Stacy (Matthew Thompson), Stephanie (Tim Wenz), Jill (Bryce Callihan), Crystal (Denis Ryan), Lois (Jerrod Vaupel), Jessica Husman, Lori Mitchell, Daniel and Kathryn Lindstrom; and his siblings, Don Mitchell of Paducah, KY and Mary Cluck of McLeansboro, IL..
Per CDC guidelines masks will be required and social distancing will be observed.
Memorial donations may be made to the MDS Foundation and will be accepted at Ten Mile Church or the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro which has been entrusted with arrangements.
