He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas B. Mezo and Catherine Elizabeth Mezo (Kaufman); his stepfather Harold Grubb; his brothers, James Grubb and John William "Bill" Mezo; and his grandson Zachary Thomas Hart.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Mezo (Richmond) of McLeansboro; his daughter Kristen Hart (Bob) of McLeansboro; his stepdaughters, Sarah Marino (Anthony) of Thompsonville, IL and Della Byrns of Mt. Carmel, IL; his grandchildren, Timothy Hart (Tiffany) of Mulkeytown, IL, Melyssa Wiggins (Sawyer) of McLeansboro, Daniel Hart (Ashley Gordon) of McLeansboro, Myah Marino of Thompsonville, Mason Marino of Thompsonville, Cadance Byrns and Carter Byrns; his great grandchildren, Cayden, Kaitlynn, Connor and Zachary Wiggins; his pets, Romeo and Juliet; his siblings, Bob Mezo (Deb) of Highland, IL and Carolyn Juengling (Chuck) of Jefferson, KY; his sister-in-law Leigh Mezo of McLeansboro; and his nephew Nathan Mezo of St. Louis, MO..
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the church or the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro which is in charge of arrangements.
