He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Farthing and Betty Farthing; his stepfather Donnie Funkhouser; his grandson Heath Toothman; and his brother-in-law Rocky Phillips.

He is survived by: his children, Levi Farthing (Angela Shepard), Colton Farthing of McLeansboro, Natasha Gesick of Springerton, IL and Heather Snicker of McLeansboro; and his siblings, Russell Farthing (Michelle) of McLeansboro, Jeremy Farthing of Houston, TX, Lenora "Len" Parker (Mikel) of McLeansboro, Betsey Funkhouser of McLeansboro, Toni Bennett (Alva "Jamie") of West Frankfort, IL and Anita Woodworth (John) of Mt. Vernon, IL. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
