We bid farewell to Eleanor Sue Ray (McLeansboro, Illinois), born in Hamilton, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 25, 2024 at the age of 93. Eleanor touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by : her parents, Marshall Elbert Allen and Violet Jewell Allen (Hale); her husband Charles Albert Ray of Hamilton County; her daughter-in-law Victoria Ray (Kern); and her sister Donna Schuster (Roy).
She is survived by : her son Steve Ray (Kati) of Poplar Bluff, MO; her grandchildren, Charlie Ray, Elizabeth Kowalik (Jake) of Foristell, MO and Blane Ray of Poplar Bluff, MO.; her great grandchildren, Benjamin and Cohen Kowalik; and her siblings, Joann Satterfield of Marion, IL and Bob Allen (Judy) of McLeansboro, IL.. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, June 29th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 29th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, June 29th 2024 at the Ioof Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 195 West Country Lane, Collinsville, IL 62234 and will also be accepted at the service, or at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
