He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Carnes and Hallie Carnes (Decker); and his siblings, Frances Nelson, Edna Seitz, Aubrey Carnes, Louise Colclasure, Glen Carnes, Paul Carnes, John Carnes and Hazel Jenne.
He is survived by: his wife Marla Vaultonburg (James); his stepchildren, John Vaultonburg (Teri) of Mattoon, Erica Butler (Brian) of Mattoon and Kara Richards of Mattoon; his brother Donald Carnes of Sullivan; his stepgrandchildren, Shaylee Smith (Dustin), Sierra Vaultonburg (Chris), Haleigh Price (Shaun), Caden Price (Kenadie), Ava Richards, Kealie and Max Toops; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Alyssa, Harleigh, Haven, Camille and Aubrey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
