It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rachel Proffitt of Mattoon, Illinois, who passed away on November 13, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Rachel Proffitt to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Orville Hale and Dollye Burchett Hale; and her siblings, Darrell, Walter, Timmy Hale, JoAnn McQueen and Dana Hale.
She is survived by: her daughters, Tammy Shull (Dan) of Mt. Pleasant, Susan Doty (John) of Mattoon and Julie Fugate (John) of Mattoon; her grandchildren, Rachel, Mary, J. C. Doty, Alicia Rauch, Colton Pettyjohn, Jessie Condron (Chris) and Andrea Shull; her great grandchildren, Elsey, Christian, Conner and Liam; her siblings, Dwight Hale (Darlene) of Paducah, LaVerne Jessee (Gene) of Columbia and Carol Boyer (Terry) of Mattoon; and her sister-in-law Linda Hale of Charleston. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor may be given to the First Baptist Church of Mattoon or a charity of the giver's choice.
