We are sad to announce that on August 23, 2021, at the age of 78, Patricia M. Hemmett of Mattoon, Illinois, born in Rochester, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Milton Matthews and Helen Matthews; her brothers, Terrance Matthews and William Matthews; and her son Robert Hemmett (Bob).

She is survived by: her daughter Karen Stirrett; her children-in-law, Jeff of Shelbyville and Karen Hemmett (Copland) of Poulsbo, WA; and her grandchildren, Zack, Ben Stirrett of Shelbyville, IL, Sarah and Michael Hemmett of Poulsbo, WA. She is also survived by several cousins and dear friends.

Memorials may be made to Alz.org with checks made to Alzheimer's Association or the Little Theatre on the Square in Sullivan, IL and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

“My condolences go to the family of this wonderful woman. For several years she was my supervisor when I worked with Project P.A.L. Her enthusiasm for adult literacy was contagious, and she always had a smile. She was the best "boss" I ever had. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was eager to help others. The license plate on her car had "Think Pos" on it.”
