It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maxine Oeltjen (Mattoon, Illinois), born in Robinson, Illinois, who passed away on July 9, 2018, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ervin Cooley and Helen Cooley (York); her son-in-law Jim Smith; her half-brother Everett Cooley; and her siblings, Everett M. Cooley, Ervin Cooley, Mildred Bryant, Erma Koistinen and Mary West.
She is survived by: her spouse Oscar Oeltjen; her daughter Connie Smith of Cowden, IL; her stepgrandson Kevin Smith; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Kelsie Smith and Kelso Smith; her sisters, Marie Bryant of Villa Grove, IL, Mae Garrett of Mattoon, IL and Larae Sharp (Herschel) of Mattoon, IL; her brothers-in-law, Jim West of Arizona and Roy Windhorst of Deshler, NE.; and her daughter Maxine.
Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church, 200 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL 61938 or a charity of the donor's choice.
