He was predeceased by: his parents, James Russell Simpson Jr. and Eulalia Jean Simpson; his brother Jeffrey Simpson; and his wife Lois Beverley. He is survived by: his siblings, Mark Simpson and Jennifer Simpson; his children, Stephanie Simpson and James R. Simpson, III; and his stepdaughter Michelle "Dyan" Burgess. He is also survived by several stepdaughters, stepsons, nieces, and nephews.
