He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lloyd West Sr. and Carma Jean Orndorff (Cummings); his stepsons, Dr. Ronald Gibson, Garry Lee Gibson of Channahon, IL and Robert Anthony Gibson; and his sister Patricia West.

He is survived by: his wife Maggie West of Mattoon, IL; his stepson Richard Gibson (Kimberly) of Channahon, IL; his grandchildren, Cynthia Beth Gibson of Honolulu, HI, Nicholas Lane Gibson of LasVegas, NV and Matthew Ryan Gibson of Boulder, CO; and his sisters, Ruth Yancy and Beverly Sweeney (Ron) of Mattoon, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
