He was predeceased by: his parents, George S. Bowling and Margaret Bowling (Dolkey); his children, James L. Bowling and Deborah Williams; his siblings, Helen Decker, Ruth Hill and George "Teet" Bowling; his great grandchild Gage Gesell; and his great great grandchild Grace Gesell.
He is survived by: his children, Connie Wilson (Lawrence) of Mattoon, IL, Rebecca Cooper (Rex) of Charleston, IL, Cheryl Basham (Randy) of Mattoon, IL, Pam Smith of Mattoon, IL and Michael Bowling (Tina) of Mattoon, IL; and his grandchildren, Amy Miller, Justin Bowling, Angela Gesell, Amanda Ashworth, Lisa Nichols, Jason Thompson, April Banning, Chad Williams, Clayton Basham, Kassey Smith, Danielle Gatton and Emily Bowling. He is also survived by 26 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
