He was predeceased by: his parents, John Janssen and Helen K. Janssen (Doorn); his wife Marilyn Jean Elder; and his siblings, Esther Gaskill (Robert), Henrietta and Johann.
He is survived by: his son Richard Dean Janssen (Phyllis); his grandson Corey Richard Allen; his stepgranddaughter Amy Katherine Kuelbs-Robinson (Dave); his great grandchild Lennon Allen Lee; and his brothers, Harry Janssen (Marge) and Herman Janssen (Viola).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his honor may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church in Mattoon.
