He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Fred Popendieker and Lilly May Popendieker (Vogel); his wife Joyce Elaine Stone; his daughters, Darla Popendieker Grigg (Lynn) and Patricia Ann Popendieker Smyser (Larry); his brother Walter Popendieker; and his daughter Debra Kay Popendieker Lang. He was also cherished by five grandchildren and nine great-great granchildren.

Memorial donations in his honor may be given to Lincolnland Hospice.
