He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Paul Spain and Laura Belle Spain (Riddle); his spouse Carolyne Faye Strohl; and his sister Lou Mildred Ard. He is survived by: his children, Valerie Dow (John), Ronda Woodrum of Toledo, IL and Clay Spain Jr.; his granddaughter Blair Tate (Sam) of Broken Arrow, OK; his great grandchildren, NaKendra, Nasiir, Soloman and Adonis; his nephews, Mike Glasscock (Cathy) of Mattoon, IL and David "Bud" Spain Jr of Mattoon, IL; and his siblings, Herman Paul Spain Jr. of Mattoon, IL, Dave Spain of Mattoon, IL, Donna Dennis Farrier of Argenta, IL and Mary Towle (Ray) of Sullivan, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in his honor may be given to New Mercy Worship Center.
