She was predeceased by: her parents, Byron G. Little and Leah I. Little; and her sisters, Betty Phillips (Robert) and Pat Smith (Delmar). She is survived by: her husband Elmer Smith; her daughter Sandy Christofanelli (Joseph) of St. John, IN.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Cangelosi (Austin) of Charleston, SC, Kristin Wilson (Noah) of Framingham, MA, Lyndsay LeComte (Dave) of Houston, TX, Joey Christofanelli of Homewood, IL, Jonathan Rivnyak of Boston, MA and Leah Christofanelli of Silverthorne, CO; her great grandchildren, Chloe, Lyla Cangelosi, Sawyer, Jordan Wilson, Mia and Connor LeComte; her nieces and nephews, Carol Steele (Dennis), Doug Phillips (Jeanette), David Smith, Julie Smith and Terri Reed (Dave); and her cousin Ellen Kruse (late David).
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home (530 W 14th St, Chicago Heights, IL 60411). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 5:00 PM. An entombment was held on Monday, December 16th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Beecher City Cemetery.
Since Jean was a teacher for over 35 years, Jean's family established the Carolyn Jean Nicholson Memorial Fund which will raise money to purchase hard cover books to be distributed to the primary public schools and public library in Mattoon.
