He was predeceased by: his mother Jessie Shields (Brown); his stepson Berek Skinner; and his granddaughter Jaedah Leeann Shields. He is survived by: his children, Brandon Buddy Lee Shields, Rebecca Shields, Nicholas Shields and Tabby Shields; his grandchildren, Jerimiah, Morgan, Nuala, Rebecca, Jaden, Isaac and Harlen; his stepchildren, T. J. Skinner and Zach Skinner; his father Larry Shields (Pat) of Cincinnati, OH; his sister Lisa Askew (Brian) of Mattoon, IL; his stepbrother Lee Shields; his niece Ashley Askew; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Damien Askew and Araelynn Sharp; and his nephew Brandon Askew.
