He was predeceased by: his parents, Dillard Smith and Marguerite Smith (Holste); his wife Beatrice May Roof; his daughter Susan McPhee; and his siblings, Kay Krey, Harold Smith, Denzel Clark, Jerauld Smith, Otis Smith, Juanita Oest, Howard Clark and Violet Chasteen.
He is survived by: his son Loren Smith Jr. (Stephanie) of Irmo, SC; his grandchildren, Heather Ochoga (Keith) of Canada and David McPhee (Janna) of Canada; his great grandchildren, Hudson, Hope, Libby and Cherish McPhee; his sister Fran Junker of Illinois; and his great-nephew Brad Roof.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Mason City, or Mason City Area Nursing Home.
