He was predeceased by: his father Virgil A. (Helen A.); and his brothers, Dennis and Kent Mattern. He is survived by: his wife Ruth A.; his stepson Dean Roehrig (Karen); his grandsons, Ryan Roehrig (Nicole) and Robert Roehrig (Allison); his great grandchildren, Parker, Reese and Emmylou; his siblings, Barbara Klearman, James Mattern (Barbara), Thomas Mattern (Kathleen) and Gary Mattern (Sharol); and his brother-in-law Robert Dickhaut. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Calendar Moll Funeral Home (34 W Main St, Mascoutah, IL 62258). A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
