It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Edward Swope of Mascoutah, Illinois, born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, who passed away on February 17, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Edward and Donna Rae Swope (Harmon); his son Josiah Swope; and his sons-in-law, Steven "Skinner" Mank and Wade Wynkoop.

He is survived by: his children, Kim Duke of St. Joseph, MO, Heather Swope of Freeburg, IL, Jason Swope (Angie Ames) of Freeburg, IL, Joseph Swope of Belleville, IL, Ronnie Kolodgie (Ian Garland) of Belleville, IL and Allie Swope of Mascoutah, IL; his daughter-in-law Brandi Swope of Collinsville, IL; his grandchildren, Cameron Mank (Trisha), Chase Mank (Emily), Blu-Jem Adams (Zak), Sky-Cloud Swope, Dalton Fortier and Ella Fortier; his great grandchildren, Autumn Mank, Sapphire Sue Adams, Samuel Adams and Dylan Adams; his grandson Greg Muehlenbacher of St. Joseph, MO; and his pet Bailey.
