He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo S. Gardner and Celia Mae Gardner Young (Woolsey); his wife Joan Gardner (Buck); and his siblings, Dixie Meyer, Raymond and Joseph Gardner.

He is survived by: his daughter Dulce Clendenny of Jerseyville; and his sister Peggy Ballard of Wood River.
