He was predeceased by: his son Thomas Edward Godwin. He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Susan Stratton, Sipula Stratton of Ottawa and Maribeth Stratton (Gary) of Tinley Park; his grandsons, Ian Stratton and Connor Stratton; his brothers, Robert Godwin (Patricia) and Edward Godwin; and his sister-in-law Edwin Wodarski (Pat). He is also survived by nephew, several nieces.
