He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Pierson and Ann Pierson (Gabehart); his wife Cindy; his stepfather Harry Shumaker; his brother Richard Pierson; and his in-laws, Edward and Maxine Redford.
He is survived by: his son John (Alicia) of Marseilles; his grandchildren, Carter and Kennedy; his stepsiblings, Mark Shumaker (Jan) and Miki Satterthwaite (Harry); and his sisters-in-law, Setsuko Pierson, Connie Blanton (Jim) and Linda Cresto (Brad). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
