He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce Bohannon; his parents, R. P. Bohannon and Blanche Bohannon; his brother Paul Bohannon; and his parents-in-law, Vernon and Lucy Hadley.

He is survived by: his children, Jeff Bohannon and Sue Kjolhede (Karl). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

“I am happy to see that Richard (Dick) Bohannon was credited in his obituary as the winner of the 1948 Ottawa Soap Box Derby. It was a proud and fun day and event 76 years ago for all of us contestants. When all the derby cars were lined up prior to racing, it was easy to see the one that was going to be the winner. It was a great build by Dick Bohannon. His family is understandably proud of him for his successful career in auto repair and restoration. Norman Strow OHS Class 1954”
