She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Howard "Pug" and Nina Rosalie Sipes (Armel); her grandson Christopher Root; her daughter-in-law Billi Jo Hall; and her sisters, Portia Brierton (Jack), Gladys Taber (Amos "Slim"), Delores "Dee" Crouse (Robert "Bob") and Sandy Chockley (Richard "Dick").
She is survived by: her husband George Root; her sons, Steve Root (Vicki) of Carlyle, Michael Root of Springfield and Darrin Root (Pam) of Marissa, Illinois; her grandchildren, Hannah Linder (Alex) of O'Fallon, Rachel Petrea (Lukas) of Salem, Gina Root of Carlyle, Matthew Davis of Carlyle, Becky Davis of New Baden, Beth Root of Marissa and Becca Root of Marissa, Illinois; and her great grandchildren, Myla and Benjamin Linder. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
