He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Lovel and Lula M. Lovel (Rice); and his siblings, Jerry, Jack, Ronald Lovel, Ruby Throgmorton, Betty Stevens and Wilma Lovel.

He is survived by: his wife Susan Lovel (McMullin); his son Larry Lovel (Terri); his brother Donald Lovel (Judy); and his grandchildren, Peyton, Gavin and Whitney Lovel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
