He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lindsley and Bessie Ruth Shockley (Trolinger); and his siblings, Ethel Southall, William and Everett Shockley.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee Shockley of Marion; his sons, Richard Ray Schockley II (Janet) of Mulkeytown, IL, Christopher Alan Shockley (Nancy) of Flossmoor, IL and Robert L. Shockley (Jeanne) of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Andrew R. Shockley (Lynn) of Marquette Heights, IL, Aaron R. Shockley of Benton, IL, Michael Cody Shockley (Alaina) of Benton, IL, Brian Shockley of Chicago, IL, Megan Shockley of Flossmoor, IL, Caitlin Shockley of Flossmoor, IL, Sarah Shockley of Phoenix, AZ and Kyle Shockley of Phoenix, AZ; and his sisters-in-law, Frances Shockley of Williamsburg, VA, Patricia Collins (Paul) of Florence, KY, Nancy Hunter of Lagrange, IN and Gwynne Katzenbach (George) of Lafayette Hill, PA. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren.
