He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Barnwell and Opal M. Barnwell (Graves); his wife Mamie Pippie; and his brother James William "Barney" Barnwell. He is survived by: his children, Samuel William Barnwell of Marion and Laura Ann Barnwell Sims of Eldorado; his grandchildren, Anthony Sims, Austin Sims and Stephanie Jennings; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Austyn and Addy Sims; his brother John E. Barnwell; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Reggio; his nieces and nephews, Carla S. Barnwell, Maria L. Barnwell Hafford, Vince Kelley, Valerie Mabry, Sal Reggio, Diana Kinnamon, Angela Daughtery, Mitch Kane, Sherry Kelley and Todd Kelley; and his great-nephew John B. G. Hafford (Jack).
