It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John L. McCurdy of Marion, Illinois, who passed away on August 2, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John L. McCurdy to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifton McCurdy and Irene McCurdy (Williams); and his siblings, Louise Doty, James McCurdy, Walter "Bub" McCurdy, Carlos "Dale" McCurdy and Marlos "Mac" McCurdy.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis McCurdy of Marion, IL; his sons, Robert McCurdy (Kristine) of Marion, IL and Michael McCurdy of Marion, IL; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn McCurdy, Olivia McCurdy, Steven Impini, Kyle Impini (Kalee), Dakodah McCurdy and Zachary McCurdy; his great grandchild Charlie McCurdy; and his sister Dorothy Newby of Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be directed to "Second Baptist Church Building Fund.". Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.

“I remember Johnny showing off a hunting dog by placing a raw egg in the mouth and sending it way out around the field and coming back with the egg unbroken. Also bribing us kids with cash if we could catch any of the training quail that had gotten loose. In retrospect his cash was safe as none of us city kids were capable of catching a juvenile quail. We had fun climbing the tree out front and catching fireflies with their sons. Fond memories with distant family. Kathy Cowsert”
