It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Elsie M. Devardo of Marion, Illinois, born in Murphysboro, Illinois, who passed away on June 18, 2020, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Monroe and Camilla Margaret Richards (Schmellmeyer); her son John Thomas DeVardo; and her siblings, Beulah Ferguson, Ruby Fenton, Thomas M. Richards, Jr., Robert Richards and Homer Richards.
She is survived by: her husband Thomas M. DeVardo of Marion; her son Tim; her daughter-in-law Lorie DeVardo of Marion; her grandsons, Josh A. DeVardo of Marion and Ben S. DeVardo (Erin) of Mt. Vernon, IL; her great grandchild Collin A. DeVardo of Mt. Vernon; her sister Shirley; and her siblings-in-law, Marvin Oetjen of Carterville, IL, Ruth Ann Richards of Murphysboro and Nadine Battioli of Herrin, IL. She is also survived by other extended family and many friends.
DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE ILLINOIS GOVERNOR, it is recommended funeral homes adhere to limit public gatherings within the funeral home.
The family has requested rather than customary gifts of remembrance, memorial contributions be made to "Marion Medical Mission". Memorial contributions may be mailed to the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court St., Marion, IL 62959.
