He was predeceased by: his father Cyril Leon Smothers. He is survived by: his mother Gayla Smothers (Roberts) of Sesser; his wife Tricia Smothers (Bruner) of Marion; and his son Peyton Wall of Marion.

In lieu of flowers, an education fund has been set up for Peyton.
