He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Stanley and Lois Dean Parton (Craig); his brother-in-law Mike Tate; and his grandmother Rebecca Craig Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Parton of Marion; his children, Dr. Jeffery Parton of Marion and Jennifer J. Melcher (Mark) of Marion; his granddaughter Alexis Jo Melcher of Clarksville, TN; his sisters, Sharon Smothers (Dwight) of West Frankfort, IL and Beverly Jo Tate of Noblesville, IN; his nieces and nephews, Paula Whobrey (Allen) of West Frankfort, IL, Brent Smothers of Dallas, TX, Angie Ren (Mike) of Cambria, IL, Scott Tate and Shawn Tate (Missi); his cousin Craig Cook (Connie) of Thompsonville, IL; and his close friend Tom Hilliard of Marion. He is also survived by other extended family and many friends.
The family requested for those who preferred, memorial contributions be made to "American Cancer Society" and were mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court Street, Marion, IL 62959.
