John L. Freund Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John L. Freund of Marengo, Illinois, who passed away on August 4, 2020, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John L. Freund to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Freund and Leoda Freund (McCarthy); his brothers, Ronald and Jeremie; and his parents-in-law, Vern and Norma Thompson.

He is survived by: his brother Dairy; his wife Kandy S. Freund; his children, Jason Freund (Erika), John M. Freund (Susan) and Jaclynn Mortimer (Scott); his grandchildren, Landen Mortimer, Dylan Jo, Paxtyn (Layne Freund) and Carmela Mortimer (Emmalynn Freund); his siblings, Darlette Parsons, Marlette Lane (Steve), Donald Freund (Karen) and Charlette Hoffman (Roger); and his sisters-in-law, Connie Freund, Dorothy Freund, Karen Moss (Jeff) and Kathy Keith (Craig). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, masks will be required at both visitation and funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Marengo Fire Protection District, Marengo Rescue Squad, or the More Food Pantry.

“Kandy and Family, we send prayers and love to you during this difficult time. We were so sad to hear that John had been so ill. We know you have many wonderful memories of John and all the great things he achieved during his life. Paul and I have fond memories of John in the Crystal Lake Jaycees so many years ago.”
