He was predeceased by: his parents, Bonita Newton Albers and Sterling Thomas; his brothers, Gary "Herbie" Kauffman, Larry Kauffman and Jerry Robin "Rob" Kauffman; and also Lawrence Kauffman.
He is survived by: his stepfathers, Lawrence Kauffman and Roger Albers; his children, Nicole Martin (Travis) of DeKalb, IL and Joshua "Rocky" Ross (Toni) of Homer, AK; his grandchildren, Austin William Martin "Willy", Jacob Lee Martin, Jordan Campton, Maliyah Montour, Joshua Ross and Johnny Ross; his sisters, Diana McCarthy of Virginia, IL, Connie Frese (Virgil) of Quincy, IL and Renee Ferguson of Clarksdale, MS; and his aunt Wanda Moreland (Wally) of Iberia, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
