He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Lou Katrein. He is survived by: his sons, Daniel Katrein (Jennifer) and David Katrein (Brenda); his grandchildren, Andrew, Derek, Joshua and Jessica; and his brother Gary Katrein.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Joe's name.
