With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virgil S Dawson of Manito, Illinois, born in Bloomington, Illinois, who passed away on October 26, 2022 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Lavonne Maas Dawson; his birth parents, Ralph and Eclissa Oakes Berry; and his adoptive parents, Ralph Dawson and Winnie Smith Dawson.

He is survived by: his daughters, Patia Picken (Kelly) of Manito and Julie Cackowski (Josh) of Manito; and his grandchildren, Chase Picken, Camryn Picken and Jake Cackowski.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post or to the Forest City Community Church.
