MANITO ~ Randal Kenneth "Randy" Carter, 55, of Manito passed away at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his home. Born May 18, 1962 in Pekin to Kenneth L. and Carol J. (Nelson) Carter, he married Kathleen M. Deal in Pekin. He later married Linda Harvey on July 23, 1994 in Spring Lake. She survives. Also surviving are his mother and step-father, Carol and Pete Emmons of Pekin; his step-mother, Patricia Carter of Port St. Lucie, FL; five daughters, Amanda (Seth Rice) Carter of Hutchinson, MN, Amber (Demeral) Shavers of Peoria, Kristina (Steve Graves) Beimfohr of Manito, Mandi (Jordyn Chance) Coensgen of Pekin and BreAsia Carter of Manito; five grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Davis of Port St. Lucie, FL, Scott (Crystal) Carter of Hanna City; one sister, Patty (Harold) Weber of Port St. Lucie, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; step-father and one sister. Randy had worked for Matcor Metal Fabrication, formerly Morton Metalcraft in Morton for 27 years, last working in 2015. He had been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and proudly had over 4 months of sobriety. Randy enjoyed fishing, taking his dogs for a walk, rock music and helping people.
He had been nominated for Father of the Year in Manito in 1997. He will also be missed by his dog, Leigh and his cat Ronald. His visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
