He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Bernshausen and Matilda Lucas Bernshausen; his wife Helen Crawford; his sister Betty Springborn; his son-in-law Paul Evelsizer; and his grandson Joshua D. Bernshausen.

He is survived by: his children, Janet Sue Evelsizer of Peoria Heights, Larry Bernshausen (Sherri) of Manito, David Bernshausen (Jeanie) of Manito, John Bernshausen (Deb) of Manito and Roger Bernshausen of Marquette Heights; and his sister Shirley Thomas of Osage Beach, MO.. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community United Methodist Church.
