He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul W. Gassensmith and Catherine Gassensmith; his mother-in-law Mary C. Searing; his brothers-in-law, Allen "Stuie" Westbrook and Vernon Searing; and his nephew Nathaniel C. Searing.
He is survived by: his wife Melody Gassensmith; his siblings, Paul Gassensmith (Kathy), Cathleen Bozarth (Michael "Boz"), Judy Westbrook, David Gassensmith (Roseanne), Gary "Moose" Gassensmith and Gail Lowry (Danny); his brothers-in-law, Charles Searing (Marianne) and Michael Searing (Sherry); his nieces, Ashley and Hailey Searing; and his caregiver Tom. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
