He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Schafer and Carrie Schafer; and his brother-in-law Glen Hopkins. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Anderson; his children, Jacquie Young (Bill) of Clare, Randy of Malta and David Schafer (Sue) of DeKalb; his grandchildren, Katie Fox (Jason), Matt Young, Jessica, Sara and Kayla Schafer; his great grandchildren, Owen and Milo Fox; his siblings, Paul Schafer (Barbara) and Norma Hopkins; and his brother-in-law Larry Anderson (Faith).
Memorials can be made to the Malta United Methodist Church, Opportunity House in Sycamore, the Malta Cemetery Association or a charity of one's choice.
