‘The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.’

June 30, 1946 she married Lowell Vinyard a Navy veteran of WWII, son of Harvey and Ricka (Dengler) Vinyard.
Dorothy is survived by three sons, David L. Vinyard (June) of Lutz Florida, Barry L. Vinyard (Rosemary, special friend) of Lake Zurich, Illinois, Terry L. Vinyard of Queensland, Australia. Three grandchildren Stephen, Susan (Kyle), David (Karen). Four great grandchildren Kiley, Cameron, Marissa (Ryan) and Cody, two great great grand children Cohen and Charleigh.
She was preceded in death (1986) by Lowell, husband of 40 years, her parents, three siblings, Sam, Hazel, and Jewel, one grand child, Tracy and a lifelong friend of nearly 90 years Virginia.
‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.’
To her family and many friends she was spiritual, independent, visually sensitive, kind, fun, hard working, insightful and wise beyond her years, to her children she was on every level, simply… mom.
Those who know Dorothy know her keen eye for aesthetics, whether, her clothing, hair, makeup and accessories, or her table presentation and meals that looked and tasted like no other. Her home and holiday decor was picture perfect while always comfortable and welcoming. For many years she owned the Treasure House, that featured vintage and classic glass china and gifts reflecting her affinity for beautiful objects. Dorothy lived by and wished upon all she came in contact with, to be kind to one another.
A long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization Dorothy dearly loves, she came to the Eastern Star Home in Macon, Illinois to live out her final years. During her time there she took comfort in wonderful care by staff and friendship of fellow residents, especially Mary, they became best friends.
Dorothy’s wish is not to have funeral services. The family asks, in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the:
