He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George and Florence Schmidgall Sr. (Klein); his wife Grace Lang of Allentown; his children, Cynthia Smothers (Tom) of Chelsea, AL, Randall Schmidgall (Marjorie) of Mackinaw, Neil Schmidgall (Maureen) of Libertyville and Jay Schmidgall (Kris) of Mackinaw; his grandchildren, Lilliane, Callie Smothers, Jolynn Hodel (Kevin), Alissa Kieser (Duane), Tim Schmidgall (Emily), Victoria McChesney (Connor), Grant, Barak Schmidgall and Jack Schmidgall; and his sisters, Virginia Michael of Mackinaw and Eleanor Uhlman (William) of Morton.

Memorials may be made to Mackinaw Rescue Squad or National Fragile X Foundation.
