He is survived by: his daughters, Malissa Marie Bates (Ryan) of Rock Falls and Carissa LeAnn Simester of Rock Falls; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Lynn Simester, Jordyn LeAnn Marshall, Blake William Harris, Karsen Matthew Dahlberg and Waylon Michael Lee Bates; and his sisters, Connie Hurless (Dave) of Sterling, Nancy Zabel of Oakley, CA and Judy Geary (Dave) of Thomson, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
