She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Lee and Bessie E. Brownlee (Craig); her husband Gregory Buckley Sr.; and her siblings, Randolf Brownlee, Robert Wayne Brownlee and Avon Box-Gilmore.

She is survived by: her children, Church, Nicholas Hill (Brittany) and Gregory Buckley Jr.; her granddaughters, Alana and Mariah; and her siblings, Betty (Maurice) of Washington, Elaine Gibson, Kenny Brownlee, Marchelle Everett (Charles) and Vernita Everett. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Val's name to Total Faith Community Church.
