She was predeceased by: her parents, Sofus Michelsen and Viola Michelsen (Roos); her sister JoAnn Walker; and her niece Michelle Barnett. She is survived by: her children, Janet Hooker (Tom) of Rockford, IL and Jason Smeltzer (Sherri McCrary) of Loves Park; her grandchild Broderick Hooker; her brother William Michelsen of California; her sister-in-law Debbie Smeltzer; and her caregivers, Patty, Katy and Carissa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
