She was predeceased by: her grandparents, Jack, Rita Schmitt, Bernadette and Fred Harbour; her uncles, Hank Schmitt and Les Lockridge; and her pet Ribea.

She is survived by: her husband Derek Bainter; her son Murphy Russell Bainter; her parents, Joe Schmitt (Kathy) and Therese Severson (Jeremy); her sister Samantha Bernhoft (Chuck); her stepsiblings, Kelly Becker (Pat) and Andy Kromm; her brother-in-law Luke Bainter (Erin); her in-laws, Richard and Diane Bainter; her nieces and nephews, Olivia, Charlie Bernhoft, Cole Bainter, Baily Pike, Maddie Becker and Drew Becker; and her pets, Jeter and Cersei.

Visitation was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Honquest Family Funeral Home-Loves Park Chapel (4311 N Mulford Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mucinous Ovarian Cancer Coalition or a trust for her son.
