He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Dawson and Arlene Elvera Vertin (Anderson); his wife Laurie Vertin (Linder); and his sisters, Darlene Rund (Dave) and Patience Schnepper.

He is survived by: his daughter Emily Vertin (Loi Kim); his siblings, Grace Bennett, Faith Nelson (late Lee) and Daniel Vertin (Joan Fullmer); and his brother-in-law Richard Schnepper. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews, cousins and in-laws.
