He was predeceased by: his mother Glenda Traub; and his brother-in-law Virgil Yates. He is survived by: his father Delaine Traub (Ruby); his stepgrandson Tanner; his wife Becky L. Yates; his children, Tanner Traub (Megan) and Rashelle Spear (Spencer); his grandchildren, Stratton, Sytha Spear and Harrison Traub; his sisters, Danette Cox (Bryan), Tammie Bohnhoff (Tim), Kristy Will (Duane) and Gwen Niebrugge (Cory); his parents-in-law, Dale and Dortha Yates; and his siblings-in-law, Mike Yates (Beth), Vicki Staley (Richard), Joyce Harper (Tracy) and Norman Yates (Brandy).
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
