McCarter, age 69, of Lombard, passed away November 13, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving children. Visitation will be Monday, November 20th, from 8:30AM-9:30AM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main Street, Lombard .
Funeral services will be Monday with prayers at 9:30 AM from Brust Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St, Lombard , for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. Mrs. McCarter is survived by her loving children, Michael (Heather) McCarter, Annie (Brent) Hansen and Mimi (Nick) Cunningham; her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Sophia, Josephine, Anna, Benjamin, Holly, Joseph, Vivian, Aubrey, Georgia and Greta; her dear in-laws, Patricia (Adam) DiMarzio, Richard (Rosanne) McCarter Jr., Suzanne McCarter, James (Lori) McCarter, Peggy (Jerry) Serwa, and Thomas Noie; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. McCarter is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas E. McCarter, her sister-in-law, Geraldine Noie, and her loving parents, Joseph & Lillian (Swatek) Laski. Mrs. McCarter was a retired elementary school teacher for Salt Creek School in Elmhurst, IL. She enjoyed many years of international and domestic travel with her loving husband of 45 years, as well as many adventures with her 11 active grandchildren.
Her favorite things included spending time with her friends, shopping, reading, gardening, knitting, and cooking. Gail was always up for taking on a new endeavor and mastering it. She pushed her family and friends to explore new horizons, yet appreciated being in the moment. One of her favorite sayings was, "If you want something you"ve never had, then you"ve got to do something you"ve never done."
